Background: Generally useful by having additional robotic firepower or drone defense options, they are invaluable on any ship. Using their ‘Ships-Systems’ skill they are able to carry out mid-battle repairs, boost shields and weapons and provide emergency warp-out as a last resort. They are equally useful outside combat as they are the only class that can reduce installation, repair and upgrade costs while docked at starbases. They can also carry out repair attempts on a daily basis while in transit providing materials are onboard (usually hull plating or occasionally engine parts if an in-flight malfunction occurs). Ground-based mission roles include scavenging for components, repairing and upgrading existing weaponry and fortifications and constructing items from blueprints. Engi-Armor is recognized everywhere and combines functionality with advanced force and energy protection, and as they are designed to function in a wide variety of hazardous environments they have a flat defense rating. The armor has multiple protective layers and the CSU modifications are intentionally visually obvious, with clients able to spot at a glance the affordability and proficiency of the Engineer.

(MkI Suit) Of course I can fix that…whatever it is. Hope you didn’t waste good credits on that.

The Roboticist is a more offensive setup, and are able to assist in ship-based combat by slaving their drones to an available battery and enabling it to attack with an AR equal to their Int + Roboticist Skill Points. Robots on high Law-Level worlds must refit weaponry to comply with local regulations and instead be equipped with an alternate load-out of non-lethal weaponry such as net launchers, riot-foam grenades, foam cannons and sonic stunners; CAC and Sluggers are borderline but may be allowed depending on racial standing. The Engineers robot is a submission class offensive unit. Hostile robot subversion available with perks.

The Dronicist is a more defensive class, and during ship-to-ship combat is able to boost combat-drones (if equipped on the ship) firing ranges and damage. The Engineers drone is usually the only type seen on high law-level worlds where armaments of all sorts are restricted and they are usually allowed in unmodified, with occasional locks being enabled on the slugger module. The Engineers drone is a suppression-class defensive unit. Hostile drone subversion available with perks.

Agent Synergy: An agent may be able to hack into a highly secure system thereby allowing an Engineer to operate otherwise inaccessible machinery or electronic devices.
